General Agreement:
By joining and participating in British Life Roleplay, you agree to abide by all rules and guidance outlined below. Our rules are expectations that govern our community to ensure a great community environment and set a high standard for roleplay.
-
Rules apply equally to all players without exception.
-
Staff reserve the right to act on any behaviour that disrupts roleplay, harms the experience of others, or threatens community safety, even if not explicitly listed.
-
All rules are public and accessible.
-
Violations of rules may result in warnings, temporary bans, permanent bans, or other corrective actions deemed necessary by the BLRP Staff Team.
-
Staff decisions are final. We may take action without prior notice where required.
T.1 GENERAL RULES
-
Treat all members with respect and courtesy. Harassment, bullying, and discrimination will not be tolerated. Treat others how you would like to be treated.
-
Use appropriate language and avoid offensive, racist, sexist, or derogatory remarks.
-
Toxicity, harassment, or any OOC hostility will not be tolerated. We are a community and will not tolerate any forms of disrespect or personal attacks towards fellow members.
-
Advertising other DayZ or gaming communities is prohibited unless the community owner has granted express permission. Any violations will be muted automatically with a ban to follow.
-
Content shared must be appropriate for all members. Explicit, NSFW, or illegal content is forbidden. This also includes any political speech.
-
Do not send any malicious files, harmful links, or suspicious downloads to any BLRP-associated servers or to members.
-
Do not spam our staff or other community members. This also includes spamming channels, excessive use of capital letters, emojis, or repetitive content.
-
Keep discussions within their respective channels in Discord.
-
Report issues through the ticket system; do not argue or complain publicly, as they won’t be addressed.
-
Do not share personal information of others without consent. Respect the privacy of others. If you choose to share information about yourself, then it’s your choice to make.
-
Attempting to find loopholes or manipulate rules to your advantage will result in disciplinary action. If you find a loophole, please report it.
T.2 ROLEPLAY STANDARDS
-
Any Roleplay scenes must be realistic and reflect real-world possibilities.
-
Create believable and consistent characters. No offensive, inappropriate, or unrealistic names. There is no such thing as throw-away characters; you set the storyline of your character and develop them over time through interactions in the community. We encourage all players to create a short backstory for their character; however, this isn’t mandatory.
-
Your game name must be your current active character's name. If you change your character, you must update your game name to reflect your current character's name.
-
Your character's age must be a minimum of 18 years old.
-
Your character must be realistic to your character's model.
-
You can only have one active character at one time. If you wish to develop multiple characters, they will not share the same knowledge as your other characters.
-
Metagaming is strictly prohibited. Using any information that is out of character to influence in-character actions and decisions is deemed metagaming. This also included creating a new character after death with the knowledge of your old character. We recommend that you do not put any IC information into OOC channels.
-
Power gaming is not permitted. Forcing actions or forcing other players into a scene without their consent is considered power gaming. You must allow all players to react and participate fairly, and it's their choice to participate.
-
Fear Roleplay is strictly prohibited. When roleplaying, you must fear the situations around you. Your character should fear for their life in dangerous situations and act accordingly. This also includes protecting your assets and refraining from getting involved in situations out of fear of losing them or your character.
-
Engage in combat realistically, avoid random attacks against other players, and avoid excessive violence. Please respect the outcomes of every combat situation. Don’t seek revenge against people if you have been defeated.
-
ERP or sexually explicit roleplay is prohibited.
-
All players can leave a roleplay situation respectfully if they are uncomfortable with the current events. All you need to do is say in the OOC game chat that you are disengaging from the current scene. You can do so by typing !OOC (Your Message). You do not have to explain why to other people; however, if a staff member asks why, then you must say. This information will be kept in confidence and will not be shared with anyone beyond the community staff team.
-
Be mindful of the scenes around you and avoid disrupting or trolling ongoing scenarios. Be respectful of other players and their efforts to create engaging scenes for others.
T.3 GAMEPLAY RULES
-
Exploiting game mechanics, bugs, using hacks and cheats, or using any unauthorised third-party software to gain an advantage over other players is strictly prohibited. If you find any bugs or exploits, then you must report them to the staff team.
-
Despite there being no vehicle damage, you must still realistically drive your vehicles. There are limits around Chernarus to help you control your vehicle. Please be mindful of the vehicle that you are driving, and how it would realistically be used in real life, meaning you wouldn’t see a truck driving up the side of a grassy hill; they would try to use the road. We also do not have any stunt vehicles, so we shouldn’t see anyone performing stunts in their vehicles and then driving off. - This rule is under discussion due to vehicle damage being enabled only when an active medic is online.
-
Do not vandalise other players’ property without a proper roleplay context. This also includes stealing items that you need from others if your character doesn’t have stealing in their nature. If you come across a property that has been left open or a custom build left unsecured, then you can take some items, but don’t clear them out or drop their loot to despawn!
-
If you have many items, please refrain from hoarding them. Donate them to others or sell them; just don’t hoard items you have no intention of using, as this can cause lag in certain areas, especially in busy cities. If lag becomes an issue, devs can look into the cause, which may require you to have a clear-out.
-
If you are going to be AFK in-game, you must leave. You cannot set your controls so that they prevent our system from kicking you if you are truly AFK. This includes running in circles for an extended period, running in a straight line, opening and closing your inventory, changing your field of view, or typing game commands to reset your idle timer so that you earn your automatic pay checks without actually playing.
-
If you have been arrested, your items will be taken from you at the point of being booked into custody. These items may or may not be returned to you. If the arresting officer has said that your items can be collected upon release, you must return to the station that you were booked into. If your items are not returned or you fail to collect them, they will be sold for space and departmental profit.
T.4 TICKETS & BAN SYSTEM
-
Players must use the ticket system for support, reports, or to voice any concerns. If you do raise a ticket, then the following information must be provided:
-
Provide any requested evidence promptly.
-
Keep all ticket discussions separate from roleplay (“no RP bleed”).
-
Maintain respect and cooperation throughout the process.
-
Do not take matters into your own hands. Let the staff handle conflicts and violations.
-
Don’t protect others. If you see someone breaking the rules, report them. This can be a learning experience for them. If you are caught protecting others who break the rules, you will be seen as the same as those who break the rules.
-
If you have been given a ban, you cannot change your identity or account to join the server to play. This is considered as Ban evading and will result in a Perma Ban.
-
Appeals can be made through our Discord server.
Possible sanctions for breaking the rules can be the following (based on severity and history):
-
Warning/Kick
-
1-day ban
-
7-day ban
-
30-day ban
-
Permanent ban
T.5 KILLING & COMBAT RIGHTS
-
Killing on sight is not permitted anywhere on the map.
-
KOS Rights are granted when your life is at risk, and you need to defend yourself. Regardless of whether you are the attacker or defender.
-
Focus on the roleplay and engagement part of the game rather than the PvP; we are a roleplay community.
-
Combat Logging is prohibited. If you have been involved in a scene in which shots are being fired or players are fighting, in which you were directly involved, then you must not leave for a minimum of 5 minutes, which is when the combat timer has elapsed.
-
We recommend that you have a way to record any hostile interactions in case of issues. This allows us to have an unbiased opinion on what's happened.
-
If you engage in hostile RP, you must initiate it in person. You cannot snipe someone from far away and count this as hostile RP; it's RDM. If you are to initiate a hostile scenario, you must do so by speaking to the other party by means of demands, providing a consequence if they fail to comply with your demands, and also giving them a reasonable time to comply with your demands. Your demands have to be reasonable to the situation, i.e., you cannot demand they give you a million pounds within 10 seconds, or you will kill them. Upon initiation, both parties will gain KOS rights. Solely aiming a firearm at them doesn’t count as initiation.
-
All parties that are present during the initiation of a hostile RP scene will automatically be granted KOS rights.
-
If you initiate hostile RP on someone who is driving a vehicle, you can only do so by stopping the vehicle and then following the initiation rules. You cannot stop a vehicle by building a structure over the road; you can only do so by creating a temporary roadblock, such as standing in the road or using a vehicle to slow them down. If they don’t stop, then there has been no initiation.
-
If the opposing party is complying with your demands, you must consider this when letting them go. As a player, it’s not a great experience to be held up and have your hard work taken from you, so consider letting them go slightly injured or uninjured.
-
If you are to take someone hostage, then you must comply with their basic survival needs if they wish to continue, which means they must be given water, food, warmth, and basic medical attention if required to keep them alive.
-
Torture RP is allowed; however, it is treated the same as a hostage situation. If you have no intentions of killing the victim, then you must comply with their basic survival needs and provide a safe exit.
-
All parties must consent to being a part of these situations if there is a possibility of death or severe injuries.
-
You do not have the right to respawn at a hospital or request the CAS if your character has been killed by being fatally shot.
-
KOS rights do not need to be obtained if the opposing party presents a threat, i.e., your property is being burgled, and you are trying to defend it by injuring the opposing party without speaking to them. As always, situations like these require video evidence.
T.6 NEW LIFE RULES
-
If your character is killed by an animal, vehicle, or you die when you are not a part of a scene, then you have the choice of either respawning, reviving at a hospital, or requesting assistance from the Chernarus Ambulance Service, who will revive your character.
-
If your character dies for a legit RP reason, i.e, as part of a storyline/scene, then you must create a new character. Your new character will not share the same knowledge as your previous character, meaning that you have to start from scratch.
-
If you are killed by the Chernarus Police for a legitimate reason or as part of a roleplay scenario, then your character is dead and will be marked as CD (Confirmed Death). This means you need to respawn and create a new character.
-
We advise you to consider what would happen in real life. If your character has taken severe damage and the likelihood of them surviving is slim, then roleplay the death. Just because we have the Chernarus Ambulance Service doesn’t mean your character can always be revived.
-
If you have died in a scene and it’s been confirmed, you cannot return to the location for 30 minutes.
T.7 LIFETIMES
Listed below are the lifetimes for each category before they despawn:
-
All Items: 2 Hours
-
Animals: 30 Minutes
-
Storage Items: 14 Days
-
Vehicles: 30 Days
These lifetimes will not apply to things you have interacted with.
T.8 BASE BUILDING
-
Any property that can be purchased can be owned, regardless of where it's located. It’s recommended that you only purchase properties if you have a purpose for them; don’t buy them just because you can. Be mindful of others who may wish to own the building; i.e., you are purchasing a pub with no intention of running one.
-
Vanilla basebuilding or BBP can only be used to secure a property that cannot be purchased or properties that can be purchased; however, they have publicly accessible parts.
-
Police Stations, Military Buildings, Fire Stations, Hospitals, and Clinics cannot be purchased and are all reserved for the relevant government roles. No structures, unless placed by the development team, can obstruct access to these locations.
-
Any player-built structures must be realistic; no floating structures.
-
All properties must have at least 1 accessible door.
-
You have a maximum of either 2 greenhouses, 4 garden plots, or 6 planters per property due to the performance impact they can have on the server.
-
If you purchase a property, you purchase the immediate land around it, which is typically the fence surrounding your property. For properties like industrial buildings, camp houses, etc, you own 10 metres each side of your building. Roads, Pathways, and Wells are all still public land. The airspace above 50 metres from ground level is not considered your land.
-
If you want to take control of a town, e.g., Stary Sobor, and become its mayor or leader, you request ownership by raising a staff ticket. There is a fee; however, this is determined by the size of the town.
-
Towns not under the state's direct ownership are still bound by state laws and must follow the rules.
-
Abandoned properties that haven’t had any activity inside for at least 7 days can be removed and made available for purchase by someone else. Any inventory and story items will be deleted. If you believe a property is abandoned, raise a staff ticket, and they will investigate.
-
If you experience frequent performance drops, lag, or crashes around a specific property, please raise a staff ticket with the property's coordinates and location, and staff will investigate the cause.
Staff will try their best to contact property owners if their property/builds are in breach of these rules; however, if they cannot make contact, they reserve the right to completely remove or remove parts of a player-built structure, or to revoke property ownership. For development purposes, if the developers are adding new builds to the map and your property is affected, then we will try our best, prior to any updates, to make owners aware.
T.9 BASE RAIDING
All houses can be broken into by using a crowbar. You can only break into a house if the following rules have been taken into consideration:
-
There are at least 4 CPD active at the time of breaking in.
-
You provide some clues for the officers in attendance, such as the location of the property, a partial description of your character, and the last known location of travel.
-
You must have a valid RP reason to break into properties; be mindful of others' time and effort in obtaining those items. Breaking in just because you can isn’t a reason to break in.
-
You can only break into 2 properties every 24 hours. Properties being, Houses, Houseblocks, Pubs, Shacks, Sheds/Garages, and Industrial Buildings.
-
Don’t completely wipe out their inventories; only take items that you can carry, and don’t intentionally drop their items to despawn them. Intentionally dropping items will result in an immediate 7-day ban. This also includes intentionally destroying items.
-
You cannot place traps around the properties.
-
You cannot log off in someone's property to then log back on when no one is around to rob it.
-
The property owner must be online during the break-in. If they leave whilst you are breaking in, then you can continue.
T.10 COMMUNICATION
-
You must actively speak English in BLRP. English is our primary language, so you must be fluent in it.
-
When connected to the game, you must have a working microphone. Your microphone must be clear in order for others to hear you.
-
All communications via the in-game voice chat must be kept suitable for the audience and must follow the community rules at all times. If you are to relay a character action or any in-character information, you must use the !me command in the chat, which will display your message with an (ACTION) prefix. If you are to relay any out-of-character information, this is via text chat only and should be done by using the !ooc command. This will add an (OOC) prefix to your message.
-
You must have a clear, working microphone to play on British Life RP. Even if you are roleplaying as a mute, you must still have a working microphone.
-
The use of voice changers, soundboards, or any other sounds deemed obnoxious or loud is strictly prohibited. You must use your natural voice to communicate with others. If you want to use a voice changer for a scene, you must obtain express permission from staff via a staff ticket before the scene.
T.11 NOTES
-
Notes are used to provide additional roleplay and storytelling. We do not want to find notes with out-of-character information or offensive content; this will result in consequences.
-
Notes must only be written in English.
T.12 EXPLOSIVES
-
Explosives can be purchased only from a black-market trader. These can be used; however, all use must be recorded. This covers the placement/use of the explosive through to detonation. Failing to provide the recording will result in consequences.
-
We recommend that if you plan to use explosives, you obtain express permission via a staff ticket to give us a heads-up. Additionally, there needs to be at least 4 CPD active at the time to use any explosives.
-
You cannot randomly place an explosive item and leave it. You must pick it back up if it doesn’t get detonated. You can only kill someone with an explosive if you gain KOS rights on that individual. Any kills you do not have KOS rights to will be KOS.
T.13 SERVER STORES
-
Around the map, we have General Stores, Pharmacies, Gun Stores, Clothing Stores and Vehicle Stores. These stores are not officially designated safe zones; however, they must be treated as such, meaning you cannot injure or kill anyone.
-
Camping outside of stores is prohibited. You cannot wait outside a store to rob other civilians who have purchased something from the store.
-
Theft inside the stores is prohibited. If a player has used the store and their purchased item has spawned at their feet, you must leave it alone until collected. If you go into a store and it's empty, with items left on the floor, you are free to take them.
-
Exploiting floors within the trader to gain an advantage or more money than you should be getting is strictly prohibited. This is an immediate ban, as this can break a vital part of the community, the economy. Please report any loopholes immediately, and rewards will be given to those who find them.
-
In BLRP, we have a black-market trader who can only be found in-game and is hidden in a secret, remote location. It is prohibited to share this information out of character and in our Discord. It’s a choice to tell another civilian the location of the trader in character.
-
We recommend using the garbage cans located around the stores to dispose of any items or trash you don’t want. Please don’t just discard your items in a pile on the floor to despawn, as this can impact server performance and cause lag.
T.14 VEHICLES
-
Each player can own multiple vehicles; however, they must not keep them on the map at the same time. You must use the parking meters around the map to park your vehicle in the virtual garage.
-
Vehicles parked for more than 24 hours may be towed if not collected. If your vehicle has been towed, you have 7 days to collect it before it's sold. Vehicles parked within 20 meters of an owned property are the only exception to this. We recommend parking your vehicle in the virtual garage at all times for safety.
-
All boats cannot be locked, so you have to park them so they do not get stolen.
T.15 STREAMING
You can only stream BLRP publicly if you have the streamer role in our Discord. To obtain this role, you just need to create a staff ticket and request the role. After confirming your streaming account, you will be given the role, which will give you access to post your stream in the advertisement channel for others to watch.
-
If you are streaming any other games, you can use the advertisement channel to promote your stream; however, it is prohibited to stream other DayZ servers and advertise your stream in our community.
-
It is prohibited to watch another player's stream whilst you are playing on BLRP. This includes receiving information fed from a watcher of the stream to yourself, who is connected to the BLRP server. Whether you interact with the streamer or not, if you are found to be watching whilst playing, this counts as a violation of this rule.
